Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Regina a party bus? Do you offer transportation?

The Stargazer is only available for stationary operation. We do not offer any kind of passenger transportation or party bus services, but weโ€™re happy to refer you to a local shuttle service in Moab.

  • Are your bartenders certified?

All of our bartenders have completed on-premise alcohol servers training (TIPS) and are permitted under Utah law

  • Are you insured?

Yes. We carry general business insurance, as well as a liquor liability policy

  • What does it cost to have The Stargazer at my party?

We have many options and packages to suit the different needs of individual events. Take a look at our Pricing Page, and Reach Out to get a custom quote!

  • Do you provide alcohol for events?

We are a dry-hire bar, which means we donโ€™t carry a liquor license and are not authorized to sell alcohol or purchase it on behalf of clients. Based on the bar service you choose, weโ€™ll create a shopping list to make it as easy as possible for you to purchase the supplies. Weโ€™ll even go pick it up, all you have to do is call in the order and pay for it.

  • What areas do you serve? Do you charge for travel?

Travel to events in the Moab area is included in our standard fee. We also serve Grand Junction, Durango and the Colorado Western Slope, and we charge an additional fee to cover vehicle and overnight accommodation expenses. Weโ€™re open to traveling to events in the Four Corners region on a case-by-case basis. To find out if we can accommodate your location, please reach out and we can talk about it!

  • Can you serve drinks on tap?

Yes! We have taps both in the bar and on the exterior of the bus so we can do any combination of full and self-serve drinks. One exterior tap is always supplied with fresh drinking water from our 100 gallon tank. In Utah, itโ€™s unfortunately not legal to purchase kegs of beer for personal consumption; however, cider, wine, cocktails and prosecco are all perfectly legal to serve on tap. Outside of Utah, weโ€™re happy to bring on board your favorite local craft beer to pour.

  • What kinds of places can you take the bus?

Anywhere with a dirt road in good condition is accessible to The Stargazer, but weโ€™re unable to travel on any roads requiring four wheel drive or high clearance. We practice Leave No Trace ethics and take protection of the sensitive ecosystem in Moab very seriously, so itโ€™s critical to ensure that any wild party locations are balanced with minimizing impacts to the environment.

  • How big is the bus?

The overall dimensions of the bus are 36โ€™ long, 8โ€™ wide, and 10.5โ€™ tall, and it weighs roughly 24,000 lbs without occupants.

  • Isn't booze like basically outlawed in Utah?

While there are some quirks and limitations to drinking in Utah, the main restriction is that you can only make retail purchases of beverages with greater than 5% alcohol at a state-run liquor store or direct from the maker. Fortunately we have a liquor store, a distiller and two breweries in Moab! Weโ€™ll work with you to ensure procuring all the supplies for your event is as smooth as possible.

  • Do I need a permit?

If your wedding or event is taking place on public land, you may need a permit or to file a notification with a public agency. Consult your event planner to find out whatโ€™s required. We can also advise planners that may need guidance on the requirements for land use in the Moab area.

  • Tell me more about this bus!

Regina is a 1981 Crown Supercoach with a supercharged 2-stroke Detroit Diesel 6-71 engine and 10-speed manual โ€œRoad Rangerโ€ transmission. Crown opened its doors as the Crown Carriage Company in 1904, and they manufactured the iconic Supercoach school bus from 1935 until the company ceased operations in 1991. The exterior of the Supercoach changed very little over its 50+ year run due to its timeless styling, yet Crown was always a leader and innovator in heavy duty vehicle construction and design. Famously reliable, many of these buses ran for over 1 million miles!

Due to government incentives to retire and destroy these buses, very few are left and almost none are in the condition that Regina is. Crowns are by far the most sought-after school buses by collectors.
